Saving

CTRL+S to save your document. Give it:

  • name (whatever the assignment is called in bold on the checklist) and
  • place (go to Computer, then Z: drive, then into your GA8 folder - make sure you're saving into the right unit folder: Bitmap / Vector / Photos)

When you save in Fireworks, if you've started with a blank document, the file type should automatically be PNG (this is what you want - if you don't see that, then use the drop-down menu to set it to that before saving). This keeps the working layers so you can go back and change things.

In your folder it will look like this...

Hand in projects

You cannot do save a copy from Fireworks into Student Share.

To hand in certain projects, you must first in Fireworks save a copy of the project as a JPG (so they're smaller file sizes), rename them. You can do this all from Fireworks.

Save as JPGs

Go File>Save As and change the file type from the default "PNG" to "JPG" from the "Save as type" drop-down menu.

You'll see a checkbox - you can uncheck that or leave it.

Rename it so it includes your first name and last initial.

Hand in files

To hand in your before & after JPGs for the project,

  1. Go into your class work folder on Z: folder, and copy the file(s)
  2. Go into the hand in folder on Student Share to paste the files
